BIOESTRATIGRAFÍA DEL PALEOZOICO SUPERIOR MARINO DE LA CUENCA TEPUEL-GENOA, PROVINCIA DEL CHUBUT, ARGENTINA
Abstract
The faunal composition and stratigraphic distribution of the Carboniferous and Permian marine beds of the Tepuel-Genoa basin were analysed using multivariate analysis techniques. Four different faunas are distinguished and their relationships are established with four groups of fossiliferous beds. Previously recognized biozones (Levipustula and Cancrinella zones) are further subdivided and additional new Permian biozones are proposed. The former Levipustula Zone is divided into Levipustula Zone, Pyramus faunule (Asselian) and Tuberculatella Zone (Sakmarian). The former Cancrinella Zone is divided into Cancrinella faunule (Late Sakmarian-Artinskian) and Neochonetes Zone (Artinskian-Kungurian).Downloads
