Abstract

The ontogeny of Lissochonetes jachalensis Amos is described for the first time. Juveniles include specimens from the Lower Permian of Argentina previously ascribed to Yagonia sp. The study supports a late Carboniferous (Lissochonetes jachalensis-Streptorhynchus inaequiornatus Zone) Westphalian-Stephanian to early Permian (Cancrinella Zone) Asselian age for the species.
