GASTROPODOS DEL CRETACICO (FORMACION MERCEDES) DEL URUGUAY
Abstract
UPPER CRETACEOUS GASTROPODS (MERCEDES FORMATION) FROM URUGUAY. A description of a fauna composed of Succinca sp., Vertigo sp., Pupoides aff. sporadicus (d’Orbigny) B. aff. gorritiensis (d’Orbigny), Scolodonta semperi Doering. Biomphalaria walteri (Parodiz) nov. comb., Physa sp. and ?Peronaeus sp. from the calcareous sandstones of the Mercedes Formation, Late Cretaceous of NW Uruguay is given. Previous stratigraphic and taxonomic data from this part of the country are clarified. The described fauna, associated to charophytes and ostracods, is typical of fresh-water environments. The biostratigraphic ranges of several genera here cited are now substantially extended.Downloads
