Abstract

The structural study of the leaf cuticle of Mesodescolea plicata Archangelsky 1963 emend. Archangelsky & Petriella) 1971 is presented. The specimens were found in the Baqueró Formation (Lower Cretaceous), Santa Cruz Province, Argentine. Observations made with electron microscopy allow a new interpretation of the stomatal apparatus. Comparison with the extant genus Stangeria suggests that Mesodescolea lived under greater xeromorphic conditions.
