NOTAS SOBRE LA FLORA FOSIL DE LA ZONA DE TICO, PROVINCIA DE SANTA CRUZ. XI. MORFOLOGIA Y ESTRUCTURA DE TRES MEGASPORAS
Abstract
Two new megaspore species, Bacutriletes guttula and Hughesisporites rugulatus and the well known Cabochonicus carbunculus (Dijkstra) Batten and Ferguson, from the lower Cretaceous Baqueró Formation in Patagonia, are described for the first time in Argentina. The morphology and exine ultrastructure are compared with fossil species of the same genera and the extant members of the genus Selaginella. The exine ultraslructure shows a thin, continuous basallayer (nexine), and a thick, spongy upper layer (sexine), subdivided into several strata, each with a particular distribution of sporopollenin units.Downloads
