FORAMINIFEROS PLANCTONICOS DE TESTIGOS CENOZOICOS DEL OCEANO ATLANTICO SUDOCCIDENTAL AUSTRAL
Abstract
The foraminifera of four cores from the southwestern Atlantic Ocean obtained by the Naval Hidrographic Service were studied. The cores range in age from Upper Pliocene to Cuaternary, Partial and/or total dissolution levels of calcareous tests were verified in the Malvinas Chasm and South Malvinas Basin cores. These would show the rise of the lisocline and of the Carbonate Compensation Depth related lo regional glacial events. The Burwood Bank and Malvinas Chasm cores also reveal a Pleistocene-Holocene hiatus which is due lo a low rate of sedimentation.Downloads
