BIVALVOS PALEOTAXODONTIDOS DE LA FORMACION LIPEON (SILURICO) DE LA SIERRA DE ZAPLA, PROVINCIA DE JUJUY, ARGENTINA

Abstract

Las sedimentitas de la Formación Lipeón (Silúrico) aflorantes en dos perfiles de la Sierra de Zapla han provisto una colección de moluscos bivalvos pertenecientes al grupo de los palaeotaxodontidos. Se dan a conocer cinco nuevas especies de los géneros Praectenodonta Philip, Praenucula Pfab, Deceptrix Fuchs y Myoplusia Neumayr y un nuevo género, Australonucula, y se describen dos especies no definidas de los géneros Nuculites Conrad y Ctenodonta Salter. Esta fauna está integrada por organismos detritívoros e infaunales someros, indicadores de un sustrato fangoso en aguas calmas.
