PRESENCIA DEL GENERO SCAPHOTRIGONIA DIETRICH (TRIGONIIDAE - BIVALVIA) EN EL JURASICO ANDINO
Abstract
A new species of the genus Scaphotrigonia Dietrich, S. rierajonii n. sp. is described in this paper. It is based on small specimens characterized by two series of ribs, the anterior with short concentric and noded ribs, and the posterior with strongly retroverse ribs. A nitid smooth band separates the ornamentation of the anterior part of the flank from that of the posterior region. The specimens were found in the Lajas Formation at Barda Negra sur, Carro Quebrado area, province of Neuquén, Argentina. The occurrence of Scaphotrigonia is reported for the first time in the Andean Jurassíc, On the basis of the associated fauna, the age of S. rieraionti n. sp. is regarded as Bajocian.Downloads
