FRUCTIFICACIONES DE GLOSSOPTERIDEAS DEL PERMICO DEL BAJO DE LA LEONA, PROVINCIA DE SANTA CRUZ
Abstract
Two types of fructifications found in Permian strata of Santa Cruz Province are described. Their similarity to some previously described fructifications from South Africa, suggests a Glossopteridean affinity. The proper interpretation of these fnacllficutlons Is still fnr 'from being satisfactory. A discllssion on some doubtful points is presented, mnlnly (1) tho prescnce of two fertile ·lullves, each corresponding to different sex; ( 2) the conflnJ1ntlon of sacs ns ovules ·or seeds, anci (3) the· confirmation of bmcts as mule organs, nnd the presm\ce uf..trnl' pollen sacs. The uuthors beleive that until such fundamental questions are answered, theoretical speculations, about the true relationships of such organs will not be possible.Downloads
