El género Prototaxoxylon Kräusel y Dolianiti (Taxales) de la Formación La Matilde (Jurásico Medio), Gran Bajo de San Julián, Santa Cruz, Argentina
Abstract
Resumen. Se dan a conocer por primera vez tres especies de Prototaxoxylon Kräusel y Dolianiti provenientes de la Formación La Matilde (Jurásico Medio), Gran Bajo de San Julián, provincia de Santa Cruz, Argentina. Las especies son: Prototaxoxylonintertrappeum Prakash y Srivastava, Prototaxoxylonuniseriale Prasad y una especie nueva Prototaxoxylonacevedoae Gnaedinger y Herbst. Con este aporte se agrega un nuevo grupo, el Orden Taxales, a la composición de la xilotafoflora de los “bosques petrificados” preservados en la Patagonia. Asimismo, se amplia el biocrón de Prototaxoxylonuniseriale Prasad del Pérmico al Jurásico Medio. Abstract. PROTOTAXOXYLON KRÄUSELY DOLIANITI (TAXALES) FROM LA MATILDE FORMATION (MIDDLE JURASSIC), GRAN BAJODE SAN JULIÁN, SANTA CRUZ, ARGENTINA.Three species of Prototaxoxylon Kräusel and Dolianiti are described for the first time for the Jurassic of Argentina. They are Prototaxoxylonintertrappeum Praksh and Srivastava, Prototaxoxylonuniseriale Prasad and the new species Prototaxoxylon acevedoae Gnaedinger and Herbst. Thus, a new group of conifers, Order Taxales, is added to the assemblage of the Jurassic “petrified woods” of Patagonia. Also, the biochron of Prototaxoxylonuniseriale is extended from the Permian to the Jurassic.Downloads
