Catogenus punctatus sp. nov. is the first fossil species described of the family Passandridae (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea) worldwide. The specimen was collected from the Río Pichileufú fossil-bearing strata, Huitrera Formation, Río Negro, Argentina Resumen.
