LOS BAGRES (OSTEICHTHYES, SILURIFORMES) DE LA FORMACION YACORAITE (CRETACICO TARDIO) DEL NOROESTE ARGENTINO. CONSIDERACIONES BIOGEOGRAFICAS Y BIOESTRATIGRAFICAS.
Abstract
Remanins of Siluriformes (Pisces, Osteichthyes) from the Yacoraite Formation (late Cretaceous) of argentine northwest are described. The Siluriformes (catfishes) are conspicuous inhabitants of the fresh-waters, with some marine or amphibiotic species. The catfishes of the Yacoraite Formation are fenetically similar, at last in the spines, to those registered in the El Molino Formation of Bolivia: They suggest and additional corroboration to the correlation of the first unity with part of the second, as it was stated by numerous authors. Finally comments on theories elaborated by other authors about the development of the Ostariophysan and particularly Siluriforms' history are apported.Downloads
