REVISION DE LAS LICOPSIDAS DE LA ARGENTINA. 1. ARCHAEOSIGILLARIA KIDSTON Y FRENGUELLIA ARRONDO, CESARI Y GUTIERREZ
Abstract
Several specimens, showing different decortication levels, of Archaeosigillaria conferta (Frenguelli) Menéndez 1965 are redescribed in this paper. These impressions of small lycophyte stems belong to different stratigraphic levels of the Malimán, Ratón (San Juan Province) and Jaramillo formations (Chubut Province). All are referred to the Early Carboniferous. Another Early Carboniferous taxon, Frenguellia eximia (Frenguelli) Arrondo et al. 1991, is also considered. The material was obtained from Loma de Los Piojos (San Juan Province) and Precordillera (Malimán, Punilla and del Ratón formations). Finally, the stratigraphic and geographic distribution of A. conferta and F. eximia is analysed.Downloads
