Abstract

Stem impressions found at Coli Niyeu, Río Negro province, Argentina, are assigned to the lycophyte Pleuromeia (family Pleuromeiaceae). The fossil bearing sediments are of fluvial origin, of Middle to Late Triassic age, possibly related to the Los Menucos Formation known in the same province. The section is ab. 100 m thick, composed by 8 thinning upwards sequences. The presence of Pleuromeia in this unit confirms their Triassic age.
