REVISION DE WAWELIA GERHOLDI, UN ANURO DEL MIOCENO DEPATAGONIA

Abstract

The holotype de Wawelia gerholdi, which consists in a dorsal imprint of an incomplete skeleton lacking skull bones except for a fragment of the left squamosal, is redescribed. The proportions and poor ossification of some elements, among other features, suggest that it corresponds to a juvenile individual. The diagnostic characters of Wawelia are questioned and relationships with ceratophryne leptodactylids accepted with some reserve. Further discussion of its evolutionary relationships must await discovery of more complete material.'
