Abstract

Some vertebral remains of Aniliidae (Coniophis cf. C. precedens) and Boidae (Boinae indel. oldest known record of this group) from deposits referred to the ltaboraian Land Mammal Age (Middle Paleocene), So José de ltaborai, Brazil, are described. The systematic position of Coniophis is reviewed. The early differentiation of the Boidae subfamilies in Gondwana is discussed.
