Abstract

A systematic study of two assemblages from El Imperial Fonnation, Upper Palaeozoic, Mendoza province, Argentina, is presented. The fossil floras are composed of impressions of Cordaitean leaves, Cordaites riojanus and Cordaites spp., and platyspermic seeds assigned to the genera Cordaicarpus, Samaropsis and Cornucarpus. A new species of a platyspermic seed, Samaropsis nunezii sp. nov. and a seed in close relation to a bract (?) are described.
