NOTES ON DESEADAN MACRAUCHENIIDAE
Abstract
Remains of Deseadan (early Oligocene) macraucheniids are reviewed and described. A new genus is recorded from Patagonia and a new species from Bolivia is tentatively referred to Coniopternium Ameghino, 1895 (including Notodiaphorus Loomis, 1914). Caliphrium Ameghino, 1895 is considered a nomen dubium. Pternoconius, new genus, appears to be the most primitive of the paraphyletic subfamily Cramaucheniinae; the species of Coniopternium from a graded series approaching more advanced forms. Downloads
