MEGASPORAS DEL CRETACICO DE PATAGONIA III. MEGASPORAS PETRIFICADAS DEL ""CHUBUTENSE"", PROV. DEL CHUBUT, ARGENTINA
Abstract
Three new species of megaspores are described by means of the SEM and in petrographic sections by the optical microscope. They were found by Dr. E. Musacchio associated with ostracodes and charophytes. Henrisporites elegans n. sp. and Minerisporites cheblii n. sp. were gathered in the Gorro Frigio Formation, 12 km to the east of Paso de Indios locality, Chubut Province. Both are calcitized, and only in a few specimens of the former the limits of the sporodermis are preserved. The associated charophytes are of Aptian Age. Henrisporites musachioi n. sp. is from Puesto Manuel Arce Formation, 5 km to the east of the southernmost point of Sierra del Guanaco, Paso de Indios Dept., Chubut. It is silicified and the limits of the original sporodermis are preserved. It is considered to be Upper Cretaceous in age.Downloads
