ESTROMATOLITOS "GYMNOSOLENIDOS" EN EL SECTOR ORIENTAL DE MINAS GERAIS, BRASIL
Abstract
The deposit here described is the first one recorded in the eastern region of Minas Gerais. Different classifications after several schools and the validity of their use are analyzed in the present paper. The stromatolites are classified according to environmental and chronostratigraphical criteria. An Upper Riphean age (950 to 650 m. y.) based on stromatolites which are assigned to the supergroup Gymnosolenida is considered. Other paleontological finds from de Bambui Group are also briefly reviewed. On the basis of their consideration and the results of this study an upper most Middle Riphean to Upper Riphean age (1000 m. y. to 650 m. y.) is given to the above mentioned group.Downloads
