Abstract

Una asociación palinológica consistiendo exclusivamente de miosporas y quitinozoos ha sido hallada en sedimentos continentales de edad devónica de las Islas Malvinas. Al no haber encontrado ni acritarcos ni Gloeocapsamorpha spp. o Tasmanites spp. (componentes marinos más comúnmente hallados en sedimentos marinos y en asociaciones palinológicas de edad devónica) se concluye que lo; quitinozoos devónicos (generalmente considerados Como indicadores del ambiente marino) pudieron igualmente existir en agua salada o dulce mientras que los acritarcos y demás algas vivían solamente en aguas marinas
