LOS NOTOSUCHIA DEL CRETACICO DE AMERICA DEL SUR COMO UN NUEVO INFRAORDEN DE LOS MESOSUCHIA (CROCODILIA).
Abstract
The remains of Notosuchus terrestris (Crocodilia, Mesosuchia) from the Cretaceous of Patagonia (Neuquén ) are described. The characteristics of the other genera originally included in the family Notosuchidae Dollo, 1924 are analyzed. As a consequence a new family is recognized: Uruguaysuchidae, In accordance with the degree of differentiation of the representatives of these two families it is proposes to assign them to a new Intraorder: Notosuchia. The characteristics of the representatives of this new Infraorder of the Mesosuchia are compared with the other Crocodilia. As a conclusion the Sebecosuchia and Thalattosuchia should be recognized as two other Infraorder (nec Suborder) of the same Mesosuchia Suborder.Downloads
