A new species of a petrified stem, Bucklandia gu?ptai is described. The mate- rial has been found in Jurassic strata of the Rajmahal Hills, India. The most important fea- tures of this new species (petiole base and wood ) are compared with all previously known species of Bucklandia. Hemarks on another Indian species, Bucklandia sahnii Bose are also included, based on new specimens From the original locality. The author concludes that the external features, such as the arrangement, shape and size of the leaf bases are important characters in the identification of the different species of Bucklandia, as well as the number of bundles and their arrangement in a leaf base.Downloads
