Abstract

The record of Hexanchus and lsurus in Antarctica greatly increases the distribution of both genera during the Eocene. Hexanchus and praecursor occur in a diversified temperate shark fauna that inhabitated the coastal marine environments of the Antarctic Peninsula in the Middle Eocene. The record of Hexa nchus in the recent in Argentinian shelf has to be confinned and the repon of Heptranchias perla is considered erroneous.
