BRAQUIOPODOS NEO-ORDOVICICOS DEL FLANCO OCCIDENTAL DEL CERRO DEL FUERTE, PROVINCIA DE SAN JUAN
Abstract
The Early Paleozoic succession that crops out to the west of the Cerro del Fuerte comprises an unnomed basal unit composed by fossiliferous siltstones and shales which is overlain by graptolitic shales, siltstones and fine-grained sandstones of Early Llandovery age. The basal unit has yielded a brachiopod fauna dominated by Anisopleurella cf. A. gracilis (Jones) and Reuschella sp. On the basis of the ocurrence of A. gracilis in South-west Wales and the graptolites present in the stratigraphically higher horizons, a Late Ashgillian age is suggested for this levels.Downloads
